Welcome
Hello, and welcome to CV.TV. We’ve spent a good few months putting this site together so it’s satisfying to know you’ve come to visit. Hopefully, you will stay and become part of the community and play your part in using CV.TV to iron out the faults so inherent in the present recruitment process.
...and, of course, we sincerely hope that CV.tv helps get you the position you have always wanted OR helps find you the right people for your company or organisation.
Launched in the summer of 2011, CV.TV is based on a very simple idea - we wanted to create a place that helps those looking to improve their career to better communicate their skills, talent and personality to employers and recruiters.
At the same time we wanted to help employers and recruiters to easily find the the right people for their organisations and companies.
In short, we’ve created a dating site for candidates and employers - and we want to help play the role of matchmaker!
Candidates / JobSeekers can use CV.TV to upload their normal Curriculum Vitae (CV) and have their own bespoke webpage at www.CV.TV/yourname. On top of this we encourage users to add a short video film to their CV to give employers a better feel for who they really are.
We also thought it would be nice to allow candidates to add lots of other media relevant to their career, such as adding copies of qualifications, examples of previous work, references, etc,. Anything that helps a candidate in their search at the same time as assisting employers and recruiters in their quest to get the most suitable people for their team.
Candidates / JobSeekers using CV.TV are given a bespoke, and simple to use, control panel that allows them to manage their applications / interviews and receive detailed analysis and feedback. What’s the point in sending a CV to someone if you don’t even know if its being looked at?
Employers and recruiters can use CV.TV to control the recruitment process in a more efficient way, cut down on expensive and time-consuming interviews, and gain a better ‘feel’ for candidates before actually meeting them.
How many times have employers read a ‘paper’ CV and offered an interview only to discover the person in front of them was nothing at all like they imagined they would be. What a waste of time, money and resources, for both employer and candidate!
Once Employers / Recruiters have been verified as bonefide organisations and gained membership they can also post all their vacancies free of charge.
CV.TV is completely free for Candidates / Jobseekers. There is no cost - whatsoever - for using the service. All they have to do is upload their CV, make and upload their short film - and they are ready to go.
Should a Candidate decide they would rather have a professional filmographer making their film than creating it themselves or using the services of a friend, we’ve even secured ‘fixed’ ultra-low price contracts with professional filmographers around the world for Standard (£89), Quality (£139) or Executive (£239) Video CV’s to be made and uploaded on their behalf.
For Employers / Recruiters the service has a nomimal membership fee of £290 (plus VAT) a year which goes towards validating employers as bonefide organisations and ensuring that candidates can be safe in allowing their CV’s to be seen by these members. Employers can also show the ‘CV.TV Friendly’ logo on their advertisments.
CV.TV is a privately-owned and managed website founded and funded in the UK by ex-Daily Mail journalist, James Black.
The project is a team effort and has been built through the massive combined efforts of Ciaran Bradley (coder), Kay Corbett (design), Paul Greig (filmographer), Barry Clack (filmographer), Julia Black (admin and HR liaison), Sarah Begley (social media), James Barclay (media), and Steve Garner (sales/advertising).
We are, if you’ve not already guessed, a rather approachable bunch, and would love to hear from you with any ideas or suggestion you think might help CV.TV become a better place.
